On God Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 14, 2026
On God is an app where you record spoken oaths and share them. Permanence is the product: sworn oaths cannot be edited or individually deleted. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have.
What we collect
- Account: your Apple or Google sign-in identifier (via Firebase Authentication), your chosen username, and an optional profile picture.
- Oaths: the voice recording you make while holding, an automatic transcript of it, the object you swore on, an optional selfie (only for oaths sworn on yourself), the visibility you chose, and an optional tagged recipient.
- Social graph: friend requests and friendships, blocks, and reports you file.
- Device: a push notification token if you allow notifications.
We do not collect your contacts, precise location, or advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other apps.
How your content is used
- Recordings are transcribed by OpenAI's transcription API; the audio is sent for processing and the resulting text is stored with your oath.
- Your oaths are visible according to the audience you chose (private, friends, or public). Share images are generated on your device and shared only when you share them.
- Push notifications are sent for social events (friend requests, oaths sworn to you) through Expo's push service.
Where it lives
Account and oath data are stored in a Postgres database (Neon) and media files in Cloudflare R2 object storage, in the United States. Our server functions run on Vercel. Media is accessible only through short-lived signed URLs gated by the same visibility rules as the app.
Permanence and deletion
Individual oaths cannot be deleted. That is the point of the app, and it is stated before you seal one. Deleting your account erases everything: every oath, every recording, every selfie, your profile, and your social graph. Account deletion is available in the app under your profile, takes effect immediately, and also revokes your Sign in with Apple authorization.
Safety
You can block any user (making both sides' content mutually invisible) and report any oath. Reports are reviewed and may lead to content removal or account termination.
Children
On God is not directed at children under 13, and you must meet the minimum age required by app store policies in your region to use it.
